How to Draw a Hand in Six Steps

Hands are notoriously hard to draw. So here's how to sketch them out in six easy steps.

STEP ONE: Draw the basic shape.

STEP TWO: Draw three straight lines to distinguish the fingers.

STEP THREE: Round out the fingers and thumb then start defining the wrist.

STEP FOUR: Make the fingers thinner and adjust their heights. The middle finger is the longest, then the pointer, then the ring, then the pinkie. Add the thumb line in the palm and make the wrist wider.

STEP FIVE: Add skin creases, give the thumb a nail, and smooth out the edge of the hand.

STEP SIX: Add any other changes you'd like to make then ink the drawing. Erase the pencil lines afterwards.
